The Founders
The Italian Collection is an all-Italian story. A professional relationship between Myriam – Italian-born and today American by adoption – and Cristina, consummate Milanese, posted in the 1980s blooms into a decades-long friendship.
Cristina Ghisolfi
Cristina Ghisolfi grew up in Milan, Italy, a city that pulses with fashion and design at every corner. Her journey took her to Paris as a student, where she immersed herself in creativity before launching into projects that championed the artistry of Italian-made, high-quality fashion. Her work has brought the finest artisanal products to the world stage, including collaborations with some of the most celebrated brands.
Now, as co-founder of The Italian Collection, Cristina takes on her boldest mission yet: sharing the beauty and soul of handmade craftsmanship with the world.
Her love for the arts knows no bounds, spanning painting, music, photography, and design, with a special affection for the magic of cinema. Fashion is in her DNA, naturally. And when she is not immersed in creativity, you will find her passionately pursuing the perfect golf swing.
Myriam Altieri
Myriam Altieri-Haslinger, a lover of fine things handmade in Italy, gets a twinkle in her eye when asked about The Italian Collection (T.I.C.). For a good decade, she has worked side by side with her co-founder, Cristina Ghisolfi, on their brainchild, T.I.C., building it into the online space for the “real” Made-in-Italy.
Born not far from Udine in northern Italy, Myriam set out to chase adventures beyond her homeland, eventually landing in Australia, where she soaked up new experiences during her formative years.
In Melbourne, Myriam’s career took a lively twist as she dove into advertising, soon branching out into the vibrant world of television across Sydney, London, and Milan. Her time in Paris became a joyful chapter, letting her savour the city’s charm and master its language.
Now a resident in the United States with her American spouse, and honoured with a degree in Business Management, she spends her time on T.I.C., a project that nourishes and nurtures a deep love for the country that has given the world enduring traditions and artisans who create from the heart for The Italian Collection.

With a passion for the “beautiful and well-made” in Italy came the idea of sharing with the world fashion products of the highest quality, imbued with values and traditions found at the peak of the Italian diamond: artisanship.
In 2011, Myriam and Cristina launched The Italian Collection, offering capsules of precious accessories and cashmere. The “fil rouge”? Milanese Style, contemporary, but timeless, independent of fashion diktats, but with an eye on trends.
With the Italian producers – excellent companies with a long Italian tradition of paying attention to sustainability -develop strong bonds and collaborations. Producer and seller work together to choose pieces, colors, and materials easily used for all seasons. The fit is always perfect. Each piece is unique, and each garment and accessory are timeless, mixing and matching with existing wardrobes.
At The Italian Collection, the decision to buy something precious is more than just a digital transaction. It is an emotional affair on the part of the buyer and the seller, too.
